Departure lounge ramblings on music, places, climate change and stuff outdoors

Stranger on the Shore

RIP Acker Bilk. I revised for my GCSEs to my Dad’s Acker Bilk LPs, and while I may have failed French, I nevertheless learned that there was a lot more to music than rock and pop. His instrumental version of ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’ is even more haunting than the original. I’ll be falling asleep tonight with the gorgeous complexity of Acker’s clarinet on my mind and ‘Stranger on the Shore’ on repeat. Thank you Mr Bilk.
