Dancing with bears – BSP at Koko

I’ve seen a LOT of brilliant British Sea Power gigs, but last night at Koko was one of the very best. Amidst the anthemic tunes, hymns to libraries and protest, odes to nature, and celebration of bicycles, there was also a birthday cake launched into the crowd, two bears dancing in the middle of the most-pit, and a gorgeous, foliage adorned stage set up. The night ended with the band crowd surfing as we danced to Kelis’ ‘Milkshake’. Heaven.

Nb support act, the Orielles, were pretty amazing too. Their new album comes out this week and they are definitely one to watch – the Johnny Marr / John Squire-esque guitarist is already the real deal.
